I have a dozen 10" Graupner props left over from an upgraded Quad. (Using 11's on the new) Not wanting them to go to waste I built a DJI Naza+GPS Quad. It's a pretty light weight machine (1.5kg) with only a GroPro2 and small 2-Axis camera mount. Also left over, I have 3 MaxAmps 2250mah 4S batterys I was hoping to use individually but that ain't gonna happen. The flight times I get on one 2250mah battery aren't that great. I use one 6000mah 4S and it's better. Weight doesn't appear to be an issue with the larger battery, but compared to my other machine I get a lot better flight times. (Droidworx CX4, HoverflyPRO/GPS, AXI 2217/20 motors, Turnigy Plush 30a ESC's)

Turnigy Talon carbon fiber frame (v2)
XAircraft rails, dome and landing gear
RCTimer.com 2-axis camera mount
(4) DJI 2212/920KV motors
(4) DJI 30A Opto ECS's
GoPro2 for onboard video recording
Total Weight - 1.5kg
2250mah LiPo - 0.24kg
6000mah LiPo - 0.53kg

Keeping the 10 inch props and 2250mah batterys in mind, what do you recommend for a more efficient quad with longer flight times?
Do you think the motors aren't up to the match?
Setup two batterys in parrellel?
Drop some weight, Upgrade my motors?

the weight is too much for the motors, there running around wide open and that's inneficient. 10" props gotta be making a hell of a load. to use what you got i'd try that 4s 2250 pack you got with 8" props. if it won't lift it and hover midstick, it's time to change the motors, but it aint gonna get a whole lot better if you fff flite alot but it won't crash from overloading the motors. hovering it'll do it with any weight and not care, like a honey badger, don't give a crap

that kinda weight with the 10" props wants a 2217 or 2814 750 kv motor. then your able to run 2250 parallel or just the 6000 straight up. 10" props are kinda a pain in wind. i'd sell em and move on to 900kv same size but 9" or 1000-1100kv motors with 8". i run 1000kv with 8's and 9's. both hover for like 12 minutes on 3000 mah, but push it forward and it'll blow through a pack in 5 minutes cause it can. the higher watt motors just zip along haulin butt. the 750 feels more gutless, but has mad power. like a stroker motor, tourqy would be agood word,,,, the higher kv motors remind me more of a rice rocket kinda power. the 750 and 10" would give you the best flight times

I have 4 spare AXI 2217/20 Droidworx Edition motors but I didn't want to use them on this quad. Wanted to keep them for spares or possibly change my X4 into an X8. When it comes to motors I'm picky over the littlest things .. I didn't even want to get these DJI ones but I wanted to test all their gear out.

Having the quad weight 2kgs and keep the current 30a esc's what brand of 900kv motor do you recommend using these 9x4.7 inch props (http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=794&productname=)? with two 2250mah batterys in parallel.

when you hover right now with that prop, is manual hovering mid stick?

Manual is 3/4 of the way
Attitude is about 1/2 way

try these

This is them at 2600g, 4s, graupner 9x5, you can see the amp draw and how it increases.

The only thing different in your plan i'd do since you mentioned a gopro is graupners and the graupner prop adapters

What do you think 1000kv or 910kv with the DJI Opto 30amp ESC's?
(4x) Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=18228)
(4x) Turnigy D3536/9 910KV (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=18229)
(4x) Graupner 9x5

9" prop use the 910kv at 2 kilo. i'm that with 1000kv and it's just a tad too fast for 9's.......if it winds up back at 1.5kilo, you'll be wishin for the 8" prop

aren't them the juz motors?

Gotcha, think I might order some 8's and 9's and some extra 11's for my other machine.
What is the 'Juz' for on the motors?
I've googled and found either its a buddy code item at Hobby King, meaning I can possibly get them cheaper, or you mistyped and menat jiz and the motors are crap. haha
