Say “Ominus” and people automatically know you’re talking about a tough-as-nails quad that delivers extra-aerobatic performance. Now there’s the Dromida FPV: a camera-equipped quad that gives pilots a first-person view of flight using only a free app and their own smartphone.

Using a smartphone simultaneously makes separate viewscreens and expensive headsets unnecessary — and the Ominus FPV the most affordable option in FPV available. What’s more, once the app is installed, pilots can operate the camera from either their smartphone or the included radio and store photos and video on the included memory card. However, because the camera is Wi-Fi-enabled, pilots can also download data direct

to their smartphones, or even stream video feeds live to friends’ smartphones, or social web sites.

Those things make the Ominus FPV an extremely versatile mobile camera platform for serious video or still projects or casual fun.

Its sophisticated stabilization system keeps flight smooth and level, virtually eliminating jittery photos and videos. Color-coded LEDs make it easy to track and position in the sky. The Ominus FPV is aerobatic even with the camera installed. And because the camera isn’t hardwired, pilots can also choose to remove the camera and enjoy the Ominus FPV’s full 3D capabilities. Flight control is fast, precise and adjustable, courtesy of a 2.4GHz radio that offers digital trims and a choice of four flight modes: Easy, Normal, Advanced and Expert. A single button on the back of the radio lets pilots shoot photos or start video recording. Still, two of the biggest pluses the Ominus FPV can offer are

its completeness and affordability. It’s a complete ready-to-fly package, right down to “AA” batteries for the radio. And since it relies on a smartphone for a first-person view of flight, there’s no need for the separate view screen or headsets that other quads require.
